Delete Your FoodMate Account
Last updated: 15 October 2026
You can delete your FoodMate account at any time, in the app or by email. This page describes how, what is deleted, what is kept and why, and what to expect.
FoodMate is provided by Nikolai Langsem, a sole trader trading as Nlongvity ("we", "us"), Sinsenveien, 0572 Oslo, Norway. We are the controller of the personal data described on this page.
FoodMate lets you delete your account inside the app, as App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v) requires. Deleting your account, in the app or by email, is how you use your right to erasure under Article 17 GDPR (the “right to be forgotten”) for your FoodMate data.
How to delete your account
In the FoodMate app:
- Open FoodMate and tap Profile
- Scroll down to Account and tap Delete account
- In “Delete your account?”, tap Continue (or Keep my account to stop)
- In “Really delete?”, tap Delete account
- Your account is deleted immediately and you are signed out
If you have FoodMate Pro, the first confirmation reminds you that deleting your account does not cancel Pro. Cancel it with Apple first (see Subscription cancellation).
If you use Sign in with Apple:
After you tap Delete account, Apple may show its Sign in with Apple sheet and ask you to confirm once. This lets us revoke FoodMate’s access to your Apple ID, as Apple requires. If you close the sheet, nothing is deleted and your account stays. If Apple can’t be reached at that moment, your account is still deleted and we retry the revocation later.
If the app shows “Couldn’t reach FoodMate”, check your connection and try again.
By email:
If you can’t use the app, email hello@nlongvity.com from the email address on your FoodMate account, with the subject line “Delete my FoodMate account”. If we can’t tell that the request comes from the account’s owner, we ask you to confirm it first. We delete the account within 30 days.
If you signed in with Apple and chose to hide your email address, we only know the relay address Apple gave us, so deleting in the app is the quickest way.
What gets deleted
Deleting your account in the app (Profile → Delete account) is immediate and permanent. Requests by email are completed within 30 days. We delete:
- Your account: email address, name, password and your sign-in links with Apple or Google
- Your profile and taste choices: your city, its point on the map and whether it came from your location, your favourite cuisines and budgets, and the allergens and diets you chose
- Your saved places
- Every pick you made, in every battle
- Your solo battles, including the creator brackets you played, and your bracket plays (when you played, your winner, and whether you tapped directions or saved it)
- Your group battle memberships and ballots. Group battles you started that have not ended yet are deleted for everyone in them
- Your creator profile (handle, display name, bio and Instagram handle), whether it was approved or still waiting for approval
- Your brackets, whether published, draft or taken down, with their places, your notes and their play totals. Their share links no longer open a bracket
- Every creator photo stored under your user ID. They are removed from storage before the rest of your account is deleted
- The reports you sent and the creators you blocked, and any reports about your brackets or blocks of you that other people made
- Our record of your FoodMate Pro status, your daily restaurant look-up counts and your invite-code attempts
- The Sign in with Apple token we stored, after we revoke FoodMate’s access at Apple
FoodMate does not add your name, email address or user ID to crash reports (Sentry), and anonymous usage stats (PostHog), if you allowed them, use a random anonymous ID, so neither can be linked back to your account. On your iPhone, the app clears your account data when it signs you out; removing the app also deletes what is left on the phone, such as your choice about anonymous usage stats.
What is kept
Ended group battles: they stay for the other people who took part, so their history and results stay complete. They no longer show you as a member or as the person who started them, and your picks in them are deleted.
Other people’s battles from your brackets: people who played your brackets keep those battles in their own history, without the link to your bracket, your notes or your photos.
Restaurant ratings (Hot Places): each restaurant’s rating and its all-time win and loss counts, and the number of battles and picks in each city, are anonymous totals with no link to anyone, so they stay. Your own picks are deleted, so they stop counting in the weekly and monthly rankings.
Your purchases at Apple: you buy FoodMate Pro from Apple, which handles the payment and keeps your purchase history under its own terms. Deleting your account does not cancel the subscription (see below).
RevenueCat: account deletion does not reach RevenueCat, the service that tells us whether your subscription is active. It keeps its record of your purchases and subscription status from Apple, with basic device and app information, under your random user ID, which no longer points to any FoodMate account. It holds no name or email address. Email us and we ask RevenueCat to delete it.
Crash reports and usage stats: what was already sent to Sentry and, if you allowed it, PostHog is kept by them for a limited period and then deleted. It was never linked to your account.
Sign in with Apple token: if Apple can’t be reached during deletion, the token is kept, without any link to you, only until the revocation goes through.
Server logs: our providers keep standard logs (IP addresses and request details, and Resend’s record of the account emails it sent you) for a limited period for security and operations, and then delete them.
Emails to us: if you wrote to us, we keep your messages as long as we need them to handle your request.
Copies outside FoodMate: share links you sent stay in those conversations, but they no longer open your bracket. While your creator photos were public, anyone with a photo’s web address could open or save it. We can’t remove copies other people saved.
TestFlight: if you test FoodMate through Apple’s TestFlight, deleting your account doesn’t remove you as a tester. Apple keeps TestFlight data under its own terms. To stop testing, tap Stop Testing in the TestFlight app, or email us and we remove you.
Subscription cancellation
Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription to FoodMate Pro. The subscription belongs to your Apple ID, and it renews every month until you cancel it with Apple. To cancel:
- On your iPhone: Settings → Apple ID (your name at the top) → Subscriptions → FoodMate → Cancel Subscription
- In FoodMate, before you delete your account: Profile → Plan → Manage subscription opens Apple’s subscription settings
Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period, or Apple charges you for the next one. Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s terms, not by us: ask Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
We recommend cancelling your subscription before you delete your account.
Timeline summary
| Action | Timing |
|---|---|
| Deleting your account in the app | Immediately |
| Revoking FoodMate’s access at Apple (Sign in with Apple accounts) | During deletion; retried later if Apple can’t be reached |
| Requests by email (deleting your account, a copy of your data, deleting your RevenueCat record) | Within 30 days |
| Cancelling FoodMate Pro (your action, with Apple) | At your initiative — see above |
Reversibility
Account deletion is irreversible. We can’t restore your profile, picks, battles, saved places, creator profile, brackets or photos afterwards. You can sign up again, but you start with an empty account, and creators have to apply and be approved again.
FoodMate has no export button yet. If you want a copy of your data, email hello@nlongvity.com from the address on your account before you delete it. We send you your data in a structured, machine-readable format within 30 days (Articles 15 and 20 GDPR). Once your account is deleted, there is nothing left for us to send.
Questions or problems
If something goes wrong when you delete your account, or you have not heard from us within 30 days of an email request, email hello@nlongvity.com. In the app, Profile → Help → Contact FoodMate opens an email to this address.
